Why Moments exists
Every family has one person who remembers everything. Which cousin was born in which kitchen, why the neighbours stopped speaking in 1987, how the recipe actually goes. When that person goes quiet, the family loses its library, and most families only notice afterwards.
The raw material usually exists. A voice note from a birthday. Two hundred photos nobody has labelled. A story told at every wedding that nobody has ever written down. It is scattered across phones and shoeboxes, unsearchable, slowly becoming anonymous.
Who is behind this
Moments is built by Villem-Oskar Ossip, founder of VOO Solutions OÜ, registry code 14492107, Estonia.
I watched my grandmother tell the same story for the hundredth time and realised nobody had ever written it down. We were going to lose it, not in one dramatic moment, but one unasked question at a time. So I started building Moments: a private family archive you can ask. You record a memory in about half a minute, as voice, photo or text. Later anyone in the family can ask a plain question and get an answer drawn from the family’s own recordings, with the memories it came from. If nobody recorded it, the app says so. It never invents family history.

Everything built to fix this ends the same way: a prompt arrives by email, somebody answers it, and a year later a hardcover book lands on a shelf. The book is beautiful and the book is finished. You cannot search it, you cannot add to it, and you cannot ask it anything.
Moments is the opposite bet: a living archive your family fills together in half-minute pieces, keeping the original recordings, not just the words. Years later anyone in the family asks a plain question and gets an answer built from those recordings, showing which ones. When nobody recorded it, it says so instead of making something up.
The footing, for people who check
The archive runs on its own project in an EU data centre. Every family’s data is fenced per family by row-level security in the database, and 126 automated denial tests run in CI to prove the fences hold.
Export and deletion are shipped flows, not promises. You can take everything out as ordinary files, or delete your account and everything with it, from one place in the app.
Our promises about privacy and ownership are on the trust page in plain words, and they are the part of the product we consider finished.
What we will not do
- No ads, ever. Families will pay for Moments. Ads never will.
- We will not sell your data or use it to train outside AI.
- We will not invent family history. When there is no record, Moments says so.
- We will not lock you in. Export everything or delete everything, any time.
- We will not pretend. No invented user numbers, no unlabelled sample families, no store badges before the stores are live.
Where we are
Moments is young and honest about it. A small team building in the European Union. The apps for iPhone and Android are in preparation, but they are not in the stores yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Moments runs in the browser today, on the phone already in your pocket.
The first families are joining by invitation now, and invitations open in small batches.
