Who can see our family's memories?
Only the people your family invites, each signing in with their own account. There are no public profiles, nothing appears in search engines, and nothing is shared between families.
Nobody at Moments browses your archive either. Technical staff access is restricted and logged, and used only when you ask for help or the law genuinely requires it.
Can family in another country join?
Yes. Invites travel by email, so an aunt in Canada joins the same way as a cousin down the road. Everyone sees the same timeline and tree, and the memories themselves stay stored in the EU regardless of where family members live.
Does the AI train on our family's data?
No. Never. The AI features work for your archive, they do not learn from it for anyone else. Transcription and the Navigator use AI providers under contracts that forbid training on your data. Your stories make your archive more useful, and nothing else anywhere smarter.
How do invites work?
Anyone already in the family archive can invite a relative by email. The relative accepts, creates their own sign-in, and appears in the family. From then on they can add their own memories and ask the Navigator like everyone else. You always control who is in, and an invite can be revoked before it is accepted.
What is Elder Mode?
A built-in comfort setting for older storytellers: larger type, higher contrast and simpler screens with one clear action at a time. It is a mode, not a separate app, so grandma uses the same archive as everyone else, just in a form that is kinder to her eyes and steadier under her thumb.
How do we delete our data?
In the app: Settings, then Data & privacy, then Delete account. That removes your account, your memories, your media files and your entries in the AI index. The full steps, the deletion cascade and the timeline are public on the delete your account page, and there is an email fallback if you cannot reach the app.
Is Moments for memorials?
Moments is a living archive, and that is a deliberate choice. The best time to start is while the people with the stories can still tell them, correct you, and laugh at the good bits.
Families do keep memories of people who have died here, of course; photos and stories about a grandfather belong in the family archive. But the product is built around recording the living, not managing grief.
What does Moments cost?
During the pilot, nothing. The families we invite will help us build the thing properly and pay with feedback. Final pricing will be announced before public launch. The model is already decided though: families will pay for Moments, and ads never will. That is why there are no ads and no data sales.
Do I need to install anything today?
No. Moments runs in the phone browser today, with nothing to install. Apps for the App Store and Google Play are in preparation, and everything recorded in the browser carries straight over when they arrive.
What if the storyteller is not comfortable with phones?
Two answers. Elder Mode strips the app down to big type and one clear button, which is enough for many. And for those who would rather not touch a phone at all, a grandchild can sit alongside, press record, and let them talk. Recording together is half the point.
Where are our memories stored?
In data centres in the European Union, encrypted in transit and at rest, protected by the GDPR for every family regardless of where you live. If that ever changes we will tell you before it happens, not after.
