Delete your Moments account

Deletion is a real feature, not a support negotiation. This page describes the whole process publicly, so you know what you are getting into before you ever sign up.

Before you delete: export

Deletion is permanent and we cannot restore your memories afterwards. If there is any chance the family wants them, export first. Export lives in the app under Settings > Data & privacy > Export my data and produces ordinary files: audio, images and text.

Delete in the app

  1. Open Moments and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings, then Data & privacy.
  3. Choose Delete account.
  4. Confirm. Your account is disabled immediately and deletion begins.

If you cannot reach the app

Email info@myfamilylegacy.aiwith the subject "Account deletion request" from any address. We will verify that you own the account, normally by replying to the email address the account is registered under, then run exactly the same deletion. No account is deleted on an unverified request.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes, permanently:

  • Your memories: voice recordings and their transcripts, photos and their descriptions, and text notes you added.
  • Your media files in storage, including originals.
  • Your entries in the AI index: the search data that lets the Navigator answer from your memories.
  • Your account itself: profile, settings, invitations you sent, and your place in the family tree.

Memories recorded by other family members belong to them and remain in their archive; your departure does not delete a sibling's recordings. If you are the only member of your family archive, deleting your account removes the whole archive.

Timeline

  • Immediately: your account is disabled and no longer accessible.
  • Within 30 days: your data is deleted from live systems, including media storage and the AI index.
  • Within 90 days: encrypted backups containing your data expire and are overwritten as part of the normal backup cycle.

We may retain the minimum records the law requires us to keep, for example evidence that a deletion request was honoured, and nothing more.
